Semi-Independent Living Program

The Ben Calf Robe Society has always placed an emphasis on education. We are proud to offer a program for Aboriginal youth between the ages of 16 to 24 years that are working towards completing high school and pursuing post-secondary studies.

The SIL Program was created for youth to be given the opportunity to learn and practice independent living skills and activities while residing in their own apartment.  There is 24/7 supervision available in the SIL program.

Ben Calf Robe Society created this program to give our youth the opportunity to complete their education, teach them the tools needed to succeed and be successful in life.

The SIL program is personalized to aid the youth in addressing current needs and goals to successfully move them into independent  adulthood.

Our Personal Living Coach offers mandatory Life Skills Group twice per week with all residents.  It is the hope for the youth to discuss any difficulties they may be having, which may be affecting them in regards to school, relationships, issues regarding daily living and the hurdles individuals may incur on a daily basis.

The program screens all applicants to ensure we are accepting those who have a genuine desire to complete their academics.

Through this program we offer:

  • 8 one-bedroom units, completely furnished
  • An Elder who resides on-site
  • A House Parent who resides on-site
  • A Youth Coordinator to assist residents
  • Certified Life-Skills Coach
